Directed by Cheryll Burton and Linda Garrad, the 40-strong cast of children and adults will perform songs and music from the golden age of cinema to the present day.

“We’ve got a wide selection of songs. The opening song is Let’s Go The Movies from Annie. We’ve got Moon River in there, Fat Sam’s Grand Slam for the children from Bugsy Malone. We’ve got a couple of songs from Disney’s Frozen as well, but not THAT song,” laughs Cheryll.

“We’ll be asking everyone Do You Want To Build A Snowman, then we’ve got the duet Love Is An Open Door with a slight twist at the end. I’ve a section where the songs are the titles of the movies, a medley from Grease, a couple of songs from Singin’ in the Rain, Love Actually...

“It’s slightly different to anything we’ve done in previous years and I wanted to pick something that would appeal to children and adults.”

“We’re trying to include some more modern stuff like Skyfall and the Ed Sheeran song I See Fire from The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug which again appeals to the younger members. We’ve some really talented youngsters and I like working with them, it’s nice to encourage them and help them develop.”

Cheryll hopes it will be a fun night out for everybody.

“Come join us on the red carpet to celebrate an evening of songs and dances from the movies (it’ll be like) you’re at the Oscars.”

The company has double reason to celebrate. It recently won best best technical achievement in the NODA District 11 for its 2014 production of Jukebox Journey, praised for its set and costumes.

It’s received best panto awards in the past but it’s the first time the group has won an award for technical achievement. It was accepted by director Val Munns, accompanied by her husband Len who designed and made most of the set; special effects and technical support Kyle Watts and Julie Wardley who was responsible for costumes.

Let’s Go To The Movies runs from July 2-4, Capel St Mary Village Hall, at 7.30pm nightly with a 2.30pm show on the Saturday. Tickets, priced £8 adults, £6 concessions and £5 children are available by calling 07754 175399.
