An Ipswich restaurant has launched a campaign to stop customers using their phones during meal time.
Grand Central, on Ipswich Waterfront, wants to encourage guests to interact with their friends and family while they eat instead of their phone.
The campaign is called Fone Free Friday’s - each table is given an envelope to seal their phones into and if the table manages to keep them sealed they will be rewarded with 10% off their bill.
General manager, at the American style restaurant, Cristina Frazao, said: “The current addiction to social media and the constant need to look at their phones is taking precious time away from real interaction and conversation.
“We feel this is a fun idea and wish to promote it as a conversation starter over dinner to then help engage family conversation when eating out.
“I believe everyone would benefit by putting away their phones more often.”
