There was certainly magic in the air as hits from arguably the most important record label in history played out in front of an almost full house at the Ipswich Regent.

The Magic of Motown Reach Out Tour took audiences back in time, to the early days of the record label’s existence.

Supported by four band members, the seven stars of the show portrayed different artists from throughout the period, including Stevie Wonder, The Four Tops, Lionel Richie, The Temptations and The Supremes.

After the first couple of numbers had given the crowd a feel for what was to come, most were on their feet for the remainder of the 90-minute show, taking in hits including Heatwave, and All Night Long.

There was even time for slower songs, as couples slow danced to Endless Love, and were immediately ready for the faster songs afterwards.

As the night came to a close, the performers paid tribute to the record label’s most successful group, The Jackson 5, reeling off a string of their hits before finishing with Stevie Wonder’s Signed Sealed Delivered I’m Yours.

The hits were performed with fantastic choreography between those dancing, making it feel as if you were at a show in the 1960s, or watching it on the television, and there was hardly a lull during the show as the band seamlessly moved from one song to the next.

It was a fantastic night, and the magic of Motown was truly alive throughout.
