Archant

The musical that takes all the “poodle rock” songs from the 1980s and packages them up in one fun-filled evening of big hair and tight jeans.

Hits by Europe, Whitesnake and Bon Jovi - you get the idea - are woven into a deliberately cheesy story that revolves around a music bar on Sunset Strip that’s threatened with demolition by big business and shady deals. Of course there’s a love story too.

Sherrie (Laura Sheldrake) comes to the big city to seek fame as an actress and meets Drew (Glyn Lee), a talented wannabe who works in the bar. The bar’s in trouble so turns to superstar rocker (Ryan Fenton) to bring in some much-needed punters. You can guess the rest.

The set’s really impressive; feeling exactly like a basement rock venue.

There’s a stage, where the equally impressive band spend the whole of the show. It’s great when you get to see the musicians as well as hear them.

The show is moved along by the excellent Lonnie Barnett (Nathan Cant), who acts as the compare for the evening and the audience interacts well with him all night.

If I had one criticism I would have liked it louder but no-one seemed to mind.
