A planning application for a seventh Greggs in Ipswich has been submitted to Ipswich Borough Council - we asked people in the town what they thought.

If the plan gets approved the seventh Greggs will be in a pod unit in the Futura Park car park.

But local bakeries have expressed concerns over whether the competition will be healthy or not.

They also believe that more should be done to support independent firms.

The family-run Victoria’s Bakery raised questions last year when a new Greggs was allowed to be established just metres from outside its Felixstowe Road store, with the Futura Park one also likely to impact on business.

The plans are still in the consultation phase where public support or objections can be lodged, and is due to go before planners at the end of March or the beginning of April.

If approved, it is not yet clear when work may start.
