Emergency crews who responded to concerns for a man’s welfare in Shotley Gate this morning were unable to save him.
Paramedics and police were sent to the Bristol Hill area of the village at around 7.22am after a member of the public raised the alarm.
They received a call from a passerby who raised concerns about the safety and wellbeing of a man in a wooded area.
Witnesses reported seeing three police cars, an ambulance and a rapid response paramedic rushing to the scene along Kitchener Way.
Police have now confirmed a man has died despite efforts by emergency crews to revive him.
Detectives and ambulance crews are still at the scene making further enquiries.
However, the man’s death is not being treated as suspicious at this time and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
A police spokesman said: “Police were called by a member of the public at 7.22am to concerns about the safety and wellbeing of a man found in a wooded area.
“Sadly, despite the best efforts of emergency services, we were unable to revive him.
“His death is not being treated as suspicious.”
