Ipswich: Pipers Vale at Liverpool British Championships

Pipers Vale Gymnastics Centre in Ipswich saw 19 of its members take on the best from around Britain at the end of March.

Pipers Vale had two young gymnasts, Amalie Turner and Millie Howell, competing in the youngest category for gymnasts at the championships.

Amalie finished 14th in the country, while Millie finished in 28th.

Four gymnasts competed in the junior category for ages 14-15.

Sophia Smith finished 28th, Ella Theobald finished 30th, Aniya Barrado came 32nd and Ellie Cornforth, who sustained an injury on the vault, had to unfortunately withdraw.

In the senior category, twins Emily and Abigail Roper both competed against Olympic and world medallists.

Abigail finished 17th overall and qualified for her first British Final in the vault, while Emily finished in 7th place overall and took home silver medal in the same event.

In the boys youth competition, Rishad Al-Amin finished 12th overall, securing him a spot in the MAG England Squad.

Leo Taylor, Rudy O'Sullivan and Ollie Graham also competed, finishing in 16th, 26th and 28th places respectively.

Zack Hammond and Luke Paterson competed in the U16s and finished 24th and 31st respectively.

While in the U18s, Daniel Leighton-Scott, Edmund Seaborne, Charlie Harvey-Lloyd and Luca Hammond had some high finishes, just missing out on medals.

Tom Roberts competed in the senior category in what was his first British Championships for seven years against Olympic and World medalists.

Josie Hayes, women's coach at the club, said: "All of the gymnasts have worked hard to raise the level of their gymnastics and to have so many competing at such a high level is testament to their dedication, hard work and commitment.

"The management at Pipers Vale are proud to have such a dedicated and committed team of coaches who are working together to improve the level of performance at the Club."
