A mum and son from Ipswich have lost an impressive nine stone allowing them to live their best lives after a few difficult years.
Weight loss consultant Emma Howells is returning to motivating others after she and her 20-year-old son's own weight loss.
The 44-year-old mum-of-three said: “I lost three stone and became a Slimming World consultant. I did it for seven and a half years and loved my group.
“But then I suddenly lost my 24-year-old sister and had literally a run of illness and bereavement in our family.
“Within four years I lost my nan, granddad, my aunt, uncle and my mum.
“When I lost my mum, I was exercising like mad, and I really didn't have a very healthy relationship with food. I ended up having an operation, and I gained some weight again, so I went back to the group.”
Mrs Howells has lost just over two stone and decided to relaunch her group to inspire others.
Meanwhile, Slimming World helped her son, Elliot Howells, in his transformation.
She said: “When I was a consultant previously, he wouldn't listen to me. He just needed to decide for himself.”
Elliot was plagued with knee issues, and after being told he would no longer be able to play football, he was devastated and turned to food for comfort.
His mum added: “He needed to lose two stone to have a double leg realignment. He then joined the Slimming World with me, and he loved it.
“The ladies absolutely adored him. He got so much attention. They all were like his additional mums.”
Elliot lost six stone, returned to playing competitive football, and is now studying at Nottingham Trent University.
Mrs Howells added: “My son is living his best life at the moment. He's got so much more confidence.
“I also love that we can now all eat the same healthy food as a family. I used to make my own food and something else for the rest of them.
“Slimming World doesn't feel like a diet, it feels like a lifestyle.”
Mrs Howells is relaunching her Slimming World group on Wednesday, October 4, at 9.30am, 11am, 5.30pm and 7pm at the Kesgrave Baptist Church on Cambridge Road.
