An Ipswich high school with nearly 2,000 students is celebrating after being found to be a 'good' school once again by Ofsted.

The education watchdog's inspectors visited Copleston High School in December.

In a recently-published report, Ofsted has found Copleston High continues to be a 'good' school – 10 years on from its last full inspection.

Pupils at the school were praised throughout the report, with inspectors nothing that they "work well collaboratively, listening and learning from one another".

Ofsted also found that pupils' behaviour was "exemplary in and out of lessons", and students have "highly positive attitudes to learning".

Headteacher at Copleston High School, Andy Green, expressed his delight at the report.

He said: "We are delighted with the report.

"It's a testament to the hard work of the staff, and also to our wonderful students and the support from parents that we have.

"It's everything that the community deserves.

"We're pleased that we're able to achieve this in what is a very, very big school, which proves we can still give a real personal touch and treat everybody as an individual and help every student at the school, even though we have nearly 2,000 students."

The report went on to praise the school's curriculum, describing it as "ambitious for all pupils" and "very well sequenced, with high expectations of the knowledge and skills that pupils will build progressively over time".

Mr Green added: "I'm very lucky to have the team that I do – we all work incredibly hard and strive to get better all the time.

"We don't get everything right, but no one gets everything right, and we want to get better all the time and continue to move forward and do well.

"Our Ofsted comments and our results would stand up very well in comparison to local, regional and national results."
