A new “vital” business which provides first aid training and medical services for large events has opened up in Ipswich.
EAS Medical has set up in Trinity Park and its manager Chris Gordon-Wilson, an experienced paramedic, says they train up anyone interested in first aid and help ease the strain on the NHS by providing ambulance staff for events across Essex and Suffolk.
Mr Gordon-Wilson moved the business to Ipswich around the end of Christmas last year but he first set it up with his father in 2017 and now there is a staff of 26 with another branch in Clacton.
“If you take all the people who went to all the events we went to last year we were there to care for in excess of two million people.
“We saw in the region of probably a thousand patients.
“We only had four bule light rides into hospital and every other person we were able to treat at the event.” He said.
“We also do ambulance training so we’re training the next generation of paramedics.”
He said the building at Trinity Park which EAS Medical operates from is used both as a first aid training room and acts as a field hospital when there are events in the area.
“We deliver first aid training to people and companies all around Ipswich and from further away.
“We have all sorts of people. People who want to look after their children if something goes wrong through to companies who need first aiders in their business.”
The company is in charge of medical care at many well-known events.
“We have the Suffolk Show, the Copdock Motorcycle Show, the Suffolk Military Show, The Midnight Walk for St Elizabeth Hospice and all the school events around here.
“The whole point of services like ours is to take the pressure off the NHS.
“Since we opened here we have become the preferred provider for anything that happens at Trinity Park.”
Mr Gordon-Wilson added he is on the lookout for new staff and said anyone interested could be trained up from scratch.
