A pub in Ipswich is set to hold events to celebrate an historic day for Ipswich Town Women as they take to Portman Road for their first-ever league game in the stadium.

The Falcon Pub has announced it will have events and offers throughout the day to help mark the momentous occasion.

Ipswich Town Women are set to take to Portman Road in front of at least 7,000 fans for their game against Chatham Town in what is the club's first-ever league game at the ground.

Deni Allitt, manager of The Falcon, said: "All of The Falcon staff are extremely excited and proud.

"Not only are the lads doing amazing, but now the Women's team are playing at Portman Road, and all staff here will be celebrating and supporting the women this Saturday.

"We want to help make this day a special and entertaining day and one to remember by us all."

The event, titled 'Tractor Girls' will have a 1970s to early 2000s disco starting at 12pm, going through until just before kick-off at 2.45pm.

This will then start again at 4.45pm after the match, going until 7pm.

Karaoke will then start at 8.30pm.

The pub will also offer two-for-one cocktails, kids eating for free and there will be a burger and pint deal running.

The staff behind the bar will also be sporting their Ipswich Town shirts.

Ipswich Town Women normally play their home games at the AGL Arena in Felixstowe in front of a crowd of about 500 spectators.

Joe Sheehan, the Women's team manager, said previously: "It's going to be a really special day that is going to be absolutely huge for this community over the next five, 10, 15 years."

Maria Boswell, team captain, added: "It's going to be an amazing day. Hopefully one that becomes the norm."
