A singer from the Shotley peninsula near Ipswich has signed with an Australian music label following his recent success on a televised singing competition.

Charlie Pittman, from Holbrook, has signed a record deal with music label Island Records Australia.

The brand is Australia's premium recording label for Australian artists, with international stars Dean Lewis and Tame Impala also being part of the record label.

Mr Pittman was one of four finalists in The Voice Australia 2023, impressing the judges with Jason Derulo, Jessica Mauboy and Guy Sebastian all wanting to work with the Suffolk talent.

He decided to go on the Australian version of the hit TV show to honour his late father, who was originally from the country.

Since his appearance on the show, Mr Pittman has said he has been recognised around the country and has recently been touring Australia with The Band Camino.

He has also sold out shows in Los Angeles and London.

As part of his new record deal he is soon to release an EP, with his first single, 'i don't wanna be here' being released last week, gaining 7,000 streams in four days.
