A 20-year-old woman accused of causing the death of a teenager while driving over the alcohol limit has appeared in court.
Ellie Lambert, of Kirby Rise, Barham, was before Suffolk Magistrates’ Court in Ipswich on Friday charged with causing the death of Bethany McCauley by due care while driving over the prescribed limit of alcohol.
The crash happened in Thornhill Road in Barham, near Claydon, on April 29 last year.
Miss McCauley, 18, died at the scene.
Lambert was also separately charged with driving while above the alcohol level limit relating to the crash.
The court heard she had 185 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood, exceeding the prescribed limit.
The defendant will appear before Ipswich Crown Court on Friday, May 31 for a plea and trial preparation hearing.
Miss McCauley's family had previously said in a statement: "She will be deeply missed by her parents, younger brother William, Grandmother, aunts and uncle as well as by her friends, Smudge the cat and of course Stomper."
