A man has pleaded guilty to stealing more than £530 worth of groceries from a Sainsbury's supermarket in Ipswich.
Rad Dorey, of Brendan Drive in the Suffolk town, was caught taking the goods from the shop without paying on December 30, 2022, according to a court listing.
Appearing before magistrates, the 50-year-old admitted the theft of £533.47 worth of goods from the supermarket, in breach of the Theft Act 1968.
At Suffolk Magistrates’ Court in Ipswich on March 1, Dorey was told to pay a fine of £530.
Because the good were recovered and the supermarket suffered no financial loss, the Ipswich man did not have to pay any compensation to the retailer.
Instead he was told to pay prosecution costs of £145 and £212 as a victim surcharge.
This means the total amount Dorey was told to pay out was £887.
He will pay the sums through £100 monthly instalments.
The court listing did not specify which Sainsbury's the incident happened at.
