A spate of burglaries and break-ins has prompted police to issue advice on property protection.

Offenders entered a property in Mornignton Avenue around 7pm on Thursday, a property in Bixley Road between 8am and 10.30am on Friday and a home in Galway Avenue between 1pm and 5pm on Saturday. Attempts were also made to enter a property in Oxford Road between 11.30pm on Saturday and 2pm the following day.

Although nothing was taken in those break-ins, a further burglary in Larchcroft Road, between 3pm on Thursday and 8am the following morning, saw a Bosch pressure washer stolen along with chisels.

It is also thought that items were taken from Ashmere Grove between 5.30pm and 7.30pm on Saturday, however it is not yet known what.

Police are advising residents to fit secure locks to all doors and windows, display visible burglar alarms and use time switches to turn lights off and on to give the impression the property is occupied.

Suffolk Constabulary also recommends that people never leave spare keys in accessible hiding places, such as under the doormat and to always leave garages and sheds securely locked.

Households with gardens are advised to keep expensive outdoor equipment and furniture locked up at night and to keep dustbins and wheel-bins away from fencing or gates accessing their property.

If you believe a crime is in process you should call the police on 999 immediately, if you have any information in relation to these burglaries you are asked to call Ipswich CID on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
