A NEW 20 million luxury hotel could be built on the edge of Cambridge – creating more than 100 jobs.

The Radisson Blu Hotel, a 296-room hotel and conference centre based at the city’s Science Park, would create more than 100 jobs if it was given the go-ahead, developers say.

Lord Mark Birdwood, chairman of Steeldome, a consortium of companies behind the new build, said: “The partnership with Radisson, a brand recognised around the world, is tremendously exciting.

“The hotel will employ a lot people and give them proper careers.

“Radisson is a worldwide operator, so it will be an excellent opportunity for aspiring hotel managers. It might be Milton Road one day and then next stop Hawaii.

“Cambridge is curiously thin when it comes to conference facilities. If you want to have a world-class conference, you are forced to wait until summer and use a college.

“Any quality hotel has to have a very strong social dimension and the Blu will improve the social interaction on the science park.”
