A 50-year-old man from Cambridgeshire who was arrested after a fatal crash on the A140 on Tuesday will appear in court tomorrow to face dangerous driving charges.

Dalius Matulaitis, of Rectory Gardens, Wisbech, has tonight been charged with causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving following the incident.

Matulaitis has been remanded in custody and will appear before magistrates in Ipswich tomorrow morning.

Kesgrave father Colin Fisk, 43, was driving a Renault Megane on the A140 in Mendlesham on Tuesday when it was involved in a crash with two lorries.

Emergency services including an air ambulance crew and several fire engines were sent to the scene, close to the road’s junction with Brockford, shortly before 11.20am.

Despite their best efforts Mr Fisk could not be saved and he died at the scene.

His seven-year-old passenger – his daughter – was later airlifted to Norfolk and Norwich Hospital with a suspected broken collar bone.

Both lorry drivers also suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospital.

Stuart Lawson represents Kesgrave and Rushmere St Andrew at Suffolk County Council.

He said: “It is horrible news. My heartfelt condolences go out to Mr Fisk’s family and friends at this time.”

Naming Mr Fisk as the victim of the crash earlier today, police renewed their appeal for witnesses.

Drivers who were in the area at the time are asked to call the force with any information.

Motorists with dash cam footage should also get in touch.
