AN RAF search and rescue helicopter winchman is to launch Royal Mail's stunning new stamps by undertaking a celebration mid air display at Wattisham Airfield today.
The set of six new stamps will be issued by Royal Mail tomorrow during Battle of Britain Week and a helicopter winchman appears on the 1st class stamp wearing a high visibility immersion suit to protect against exposure to ice cold water in sea rescues.
RAF Sea King rescue helicopters operate from six locations including Wattisham Airfield, near Needham Market.
Martine Munby, Royal Mail's head of external relations for London and the south east, said: “The search and rescue team's unveiling of the RAF uniforms stamps will certainly be one of our most ambitious launches and clearly demonstrates the amazing skills of Suffolk's helicopter teams.”
