A SALESMAN serving life for murdering his ex-girlfriend has hired a London legal team as he continues a campaign to clear his name.

Kevin Nunn, jailed for a minimum of 22 years for killing fitness fanatic Dawn Walker, 37, and setting her body alight next to the River Lark near Bury St Edmunds, has so far failed to win an appeal into the conviction.

However, his family insist he was the victim of a miscarriage of justice and did not kill Miss Walker and say the fight to have the conviction quashed will go on. His sister, Brigitte Butcher, said: “We remain resolute in our continued fight for justice. His new solicitor, Jane Hickman, of Hickman and Rose, is his new representative and is currently looking at our brother's case.”

Mrs Butcher was convinced forensic evidence - particularly from Miss Walker's remains - would be key to quashing the conviction: “We have got to put a very strong case together to put to the Criminal Justice Review Board but there was forensic evidence which has not been brought to light.”

Nunn, 48, formerly of Woolpit, was convicted in 2006 after a jury heard he had killed Miss Walker in a jealous rage after she told him their relationship was over. Last year, judges at London's Court of Appeal rejected Nunn's application to appeal concluding there was “ample evidence” against him.
