A PENSIONER was killed after being hit by a truck while on holiday in Egypt, an inquest has heard.
Florence Shawki, 70, from Felixstowe, died on October 6 last year after she was hit by a truck while crossing the El Gueich Roadin San Stefano, Alexandria.
She was taken to the Alexandria University Hospital were she died as a result of multiple fractures. She was on holiday at the time with her husband Nehad.
The 26-year-old truck driver said Mrs Shawki hesitated in the road before he hit her. He said there was no way he could avoid hitting her.
Greater Suffolk Coroner Dr Peter Dean recorded a verdict of accidental death and said: βIt does appear from the evidence that the death resulted from a tragic road traffic accident.β
