TWO cousins who face three years in a Cypriot jail must wait a month to hear if they will be extradited to the country.
Luke Atkinson and Michael Binnington, both from Witham, appeared today at the City of Westminster Magistrates' Court to fight the extradition.
Atkinson, 24, and Binnington, 23, were both in a car driven by Julian Harrington - Atkinson's uncle - in Cyprus in 2006 when it hit a moped, killing rider Christof Papiris, 17.
Harrington, also of Witham, was jailed for 15 years after he admitted manslaughter and causing grievous bodily harm.
But Atkinson and Binnington were initially cleared and left the country - only to be found guilty of conspiracy to cause manslaughter in an appeal hearing which they did not attend.
They were sentenced to three years in jail in April, and arrest warrants were issued in a bid to have them extradited to Cyprus.
Today, District Judge Quentin Purdy told the pair that he hadn't made his mind up and needed to take “proper time” to consider the case.
They will return to court on September 5 to discover their fate.
