MORE than 20 dolphins have died in the biggest mass stranding of marine life for 27 years.
An initial pod of 15 striped dolphins beached in Porth Creek near Falmouth in Cornwall after swimming up the Percuil River.
Their distress calls saw other dolphins follow, sparking a major rescue operation.
But 20 of the dolphins were already dead, with a further one put down by a vet.
Many more were saved, with volunteers working to get the stranded animals out to deeper waters.
