TWO Suffolk teenagers did themselves proud with stunning performances in the final stages of a national dance competition.
Jordan Field, 15, of Felixstowe, and Beth Tamsett, 17, of Sudbury, were taking part in the national under-18s freestyle dance championship.
The pair both reached the semi-finals of the MAOAM Dance Mayhem competition.
They travelled to Dukes nightclub in Chelmsford, one of the eight semi-final events being held at club venues across the UK, but despite impressing the panel of judges and a large audience, they narrowly missed out on a place in October's final.
Top prize was a place on the books of prestigious London dance and model agency Accelerate Productions, a DVD portfolio, master dance session, makeover and photo session.
Jordan said: “I'm really happy that I managed to get through to the semi-finals as I know there was a lot of great competition, so to even get this far was a wonderful surprise for me.
“I'm going to enter again next year to see if I can get to the next stage”.
Beth said: “It's been a great experience to be involved in the Dance Mayhem and I've loved every minute of it.
“I'm so pleased that I managed to get this far and had the chance to compete with such great dancers.”
Herwig Vennekens, from MAOAM, said: “Freestyle dance is really taking off in the UK and we are delighted to be able to provide this opportunity to get young people active and enthusiastic about such a great pursuit.
“The standard of entrants keeps getting better every year.”
