RESIDENTS across Suffolk Coastal are being asked for their views on the most important issues facing the area.
The information is being gathered to draw up a document showing how the district will develop in the next decade.
The Suffolk Coastal Local Strategic Partnership (LSP) - which includes the area's main public, private and voluntary organisations - is carrying out the project as part of reviewing its strategy.
Ray Herring, LSP board chairman said: “The community Strategy is a vital document which outlines our shared vision for the district's future and the key issues that need to be addressed to promote the social, economic and environmental well-being of our communities.
“We last updated our priorities in 2005 and we recognise that it is time to review them to take account of any significant changes.
“Most of the key challenges facing us are probably the same, but there is probably a need to put an even bigger emphasis on reducing the effects of climate change and other environmental issues.
“After much discussion, the LSP has come up with its list of the ten key issues facing us over the coming years, and we want to hear from all parts of our communities to find out if they agree and whether there are things they think are more important.”
Four of the issues are already being tackled - community safety; estuary and coastal management; housing; and providing support for vulnerable people of all ages to allow them to live independent lives in the community.
A further six proposed priorities are the ones the LSP will now concentrate its efforts on - access to services; climate change and the environment; community development; economy, learning and skills; health and wellbeing; and young people.
An online form is available on www.sclsp.org.uk/keyissues where people are asked to state their top three priorities from the ten and suggest any alternatives.
