RAIL chiefs are running revised timetables this weekend because of maintenance work on the London mainline.Engineers are due to carry out track improvements between Marks Tey and Manningtree today and tomorrow.

RAIL chiefs are running revised timetables this weekend because of maintenance work on the London mainline.

Engineers are due to carry out track improvements between Marks Tey and Manningtree today and tomorrow.

From 6pm tonight the branch line will be blocked between Colchester and Clacton and Walton and buses will replace trains until close of service.

Tomorrow the mainline will be blocked between Marks Tey and Manningtree and intercity services will only operate between Norwich and Manningtree.

A connecting bus service will run between Ipswich and Marks Tey and onward train services will be available to Liverpool Street via Central Line services from Stratford.

Mainline services will operate between Stratford and Marks Tey, connecting with a replacement bus service between Marks Tey and Manningtree via Colchester.

Buses will also run between Marks Tey and Clacton via Colchester and between Thorpe-le-Soken and Walton.

In addition track improvements and maintenance are also starting between London Liverpool Street and Stratford.

As a result passengers will have to use underground central line services between Stratford and Liverpool Street.
