FIREFIGHTERS have tackled a blaze at a terraced property in Ashely Street, Ipswich, this afternoon.
Crews from the town attended at just before1pm and were forced to breakdown the door of the property to ensure no one was inside.
The house was empty and it is believed the occupant was out shopping at the time of the fire.
Harry Smith, sub officer with Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service, said: “There was a fire in the upstairs bedroom. Fortunately everyone is safe and no one was hurt.”
A crew from headquarters in Colchester Road and two from Princes Street used thermal imaging equipment to ensure the fire had no spread to neighbouring properties.
They used two breathing apparatus and a hose reel to bring the flames under control by 2pm.
