TRAIN operator 'one' has confirmed it is lodging a complaint against Network Rail after engineering delays caused commuter chaos in East Anglia.

The company is hoping to receive a financial package to soften the blow of shelling out compensation to passengers affected by the over-running closure of London Liverpool Street on Wednesday.

Train operator 'one' had the mainline train services to the capital back on track yesterday morning following the full re-opening of London Liverpool Street station by 6.30am.

An “urgent investigation” has been launched by the Office of Rail Regulation (ORR) into the events of Wednesday and although they have received a complaint from Virgin, they said they had not heard from 'one'. But the East Anglia operator said they were in the process of putting their complaint together.

Andrew Chivers, managing director of 'one', said: “I can assure passengers that we will be holding urgent meetings at the highest level with Network Rail and following this matter up with the Office of the Rail Regulation.”
