HIGH winds forced the closure of Britain's biggest container terminal today,
Owners Hutchison Ports said container and quayside operations at Felixstowe had been suspended for safety reasons.
Winds were expected to reach up to 60-plus miles per hour and it was too dangerous for the high-rise quayside cranes to work.
Operation Stack has not yet been put into operation and lorries waiting to deliver or collect cargo are being parked on the 700-acre port complex at present.
