A FORMER chief of general staff with the British Army will voice his opinions in Suffolk next week.
General Sir Mike Jackson will host a talk in aid of St John Ambulance at the Orwell Park School in Nacton next Friday.
General Jackson said: “I was approached by a mutual friend about the opportunity to come to Suffolk and talk about my career and issues of defence and security in the UK.
“While I'm not a member of St John Ambulance myself, I do appreciate the good work the organisation is responsible for, so I am only too happy to assist them in this way.
“I hope it manages to raise a lot of money for the charity, which they can put to good use in their day-to-day work.
“I will be taking a look at where we are in the UK in terms of defence and security, and where that sits in the context of this changing world.
“These are certainly areas that I think a great number of people are very passionate about.”
Spaces are still available for the one-off event, which starts at 6.30pm. For more information or to book a space for the talk call 01449 741598.
