Father-of-three Dung Dinh Luu was arrested during one of three police raids last month, in Bury St Edmunds, Red Lodge and Worlington, near Mildenhall.
The 39-year-old, who was visiting the country on a six-month visa, had agreed to look after the plants - which he was told were producing tobacco - in return for £500 a month.
During an appearance before magistrates in Bury yesterday, Dinh Luu, who had been remanded in custody since his arrest on July 27, pleaded guilty to producing the plants, under section four of the misuse of drugs act.
Hung Quoc Tran, of Gorse Close in Red Lodge, was also arrested during the raids, after police discovered 145 cannabis plants and a large quantity of the “wet leaf” variety of the drug at his home.
The 22-year-old, whose visa into the country expired in October 2005, also pleaded guilty to being involved in the production of cannabis, when his case was heard at Bury Magistrates Court yesterday.
Both men have been remanded in custody until they are sentenced at Ipswich Crown Court later in the year.
