A SOLITARY Labour councillor was today left in Suffolk Coastal after the Conservatives strengthened their already iron grip on the district.
Felixstowe councillor Mike Deacon is the only Labour member left at Melton Hill. The Liberal Democrats saw their numbers fall from 11 to nine while the Tory representation went up from 42 to 45 on the 55-member council.
Among those to lose their seats was Liberal Democrat Veronica Read in Kesgrave.
The policies at the council are unlikely to change as a result of the election which confirms Suffolk Coastal as a solidly-blue swathe on the political map.
