ARMED guards have been patrolling outside Ipswich Crown Court today.
The police officers were stationed outside the court on Russell Road because the case of Tony Holland, the 22-year-old accused of murdering Bury St Edmunds man William O'Connor, was due to be heard at 2pm.
Holland, of Broadlands, Desborough, Northamptonshire, was due to appear via video link from prison where he is being held on remand and was not due to be attending the court room in person.
However court staff requested that the police attended because of fears that feelings could be running high after the stabbing of 20-year-old Mr O'Connor on April 27.
