SCHOOL truants, litterbugs and louts are set to be targeted as part of a week-long blitz on problem behaviour in Ipswich.Officers from Ipswich Borough Council, Suffolk County Council, Suffolk police and other agencies will hit the streets to tackle a number of issues between next Wednesday and July 11.
SCHOOL truants, litterbugs and louts are set to be targeted as part of a week-long blitz on problem behaviour in Ipswich.
Officers from Ipswich Borough Council, Suffolk County Council, Suffolk police and other agencies will hit the streets to tackle a number of issues between next Wednesday and July 11.
The overall aim is to reduce crime and make people feel better about the area where they live.
Activities will include graffiti removal, vehicle checks, litter enforcement, truancy sweeps, test purchase by trading standards officers as well as events such as film showings and dance classes.
Cllr Joanna Spicer, portfolio holder for public protection said: “These are real issues affecting real people.
“It is important that we take action and are seen by the whole community to improve local areas.”
Cllr Liz Harsant, leader of Ipswich Borough Council, said: “This week of action covers many areas and shows that we mean business.
“We hope we can make a real difference by highlighting and dealing with issues that directly affect people's quality of life.”
