A MANAGER at the RSPCA animal centre in Martlesham, claims the sky is the limit with her latest fundraising venture.

Kieron Adams is set to take part in a charity skydive to raise vital funds for the independently-run animal centre on Mill Lane. Though it will be fulfilling a lifelong ambition, her nerves are increasing as the date draws nearer.

Miss Adams will join more than 100 other RSPCA employees and volunteers for the event, which will be held at the Salisbury Plain on the weekend of July 28 and 29.

She said: “I am absolutely petrified. I volunteered to do it because it is one of those things I had wanted to do but now it has come down to it, I'm really scared. It is like one of those things you have to do in life to tick off.”

Miss Adams has raised £250 so far but needs to raise a minimum of £380.

All the money will go to the animal centre in Martlesham, which costs £200,000 a year to run.

She added: “We have had such a large outlay recently because of our new cattery unit, so our funds are very low at the moment. Every bit of fundraising helps.”

The marathon challenge has been organised by the Royal Artillery and the aim is to achieve 100 tandem skydives in one weekend. Participants will have the opportunity to skydive with the Black Knights Parachute team of the Royal Artillery and enjoy a fun day out.

The event will include demonstrations, full training, a video of the weekend, photos, food, t-shirts and other entertainment.

Anyone who wishes to sponsor Kieron can call her at the centre on 01473 623280 or pop in to the centre to sign her form.
