A CRACKDOWN on anti-social behaviour in an Ipswich park was underway today.
Police, fire fighters, trading standards officers and education welfare experts Christchurch Park today in a co-ordinated sweep following consultation with the neighbouring community.
Truants, graffiti, and other incidents of low-level anti-social behaviour all came under the spotlight in a sweep of the park at around lunchtime.
Around 50 people took part in the sweep splitting into teams to follow up concerns and issues raised by residents.
The multi agency crackdown followed similar impact days staged in certain boroughs of the town.
Denise Whiting, fire and rescue community co-ordinator, helped organise the event.
She said: “We are concentrating on areas in the park which people have said they feel need looking at.
“It's a glorious park and Ipswich people should be able to enjoy it.
“We are only talking about a few minor incidents which need resolving.”
Consultation was carried out in May.
Leaflets were dropped through letterboxes, councillors were spoken to and the public was invited to make its view.
Today's event was the first of a week of community-based activities, which includes sports events for young people and cycling proficiency.
