WHEN Georgina Barclay was a child she was told off for drawing on her bedroom wallpaper.
Today she is an accomplished artist, preparing to unveil her portrait of the Prince of Wales in front of the heir to the throne tomorrow at his home in Birkhall, Scotland.
Miss Barclay, of Waldringfield, is the youngest artist to be commissioned to paint an English Royal.
She was handpicked by the Prince of Wales.
The oil painting was commissioned by the Black Watch, the recently disbanded Royal Highland Regiment.
The Prince has been Colonel in Chief since 2002 and he picked Miss Barclay after examining her portfolio.
The 27-year-old said: “I am very pleased with it and it makes me feel proud. It is a very classical portrait and that is what the Black Watch wanted. There are all sorts of different ways you could do it but this will stand the test of time.”
Following tomorrow's official launch, the portrait has been selected to hang at the Mall Gallery, London, in the Royal Society of Portrait Painters' Annual Exhibition from April 26 until May 13.
