A rescue operation was launched shortly after 1pm yesterday after a 33ft fibreglass rowing skiff - a boat similar to those used in the Oxford and Cambridge boat race - turned over.
The two people, who have not been named, were in the water for about 15 minutes before they were rescued by the Felixstowe Ferry Harbour Master.
A spokesman for the East Anglian Ambulance Service said the pair were taken to Ipswich Hospital for treatment.
