DESPERATE for news of her missing son, Nicki Durbin went on national television today in the hope of finding the teenager.
As her anguish enters its 76th day, Mrs Durbin told GMTV viewers how she has not heard from 19-year-old Luke since he went out for a night with friends in May.
The mum-of-two from Hollesley knows the only way to keep the search in the public eye is continued publicity. Today, she was appealing for national companies to highlight the quest to find Luke, believing he may no longer be in Suffolk.
Prior to her TV appearance she said: “I'm incredibly daunted about it. I'm very anxious about doing anything, but equally I can't have a campaign running where I'm not prepared to do any of the public stuff. I will be appealing to any local or national companies to put a hyperlink from their websites to Luke's site.”
Since Luke disappeared in Ipswich, Mrs Durbin has been left with little choice but to keep pushing herself to appear in the media.
She added: “My emotions have been like a yo-yo, always changing. You get used to the feeling of despair because it always with me every day, just on different levels. It's not an unusual feeling anymore. All my energies are focussed on finding Luke by keeping his disappearance in public view, rather than dwelling on this feeling of despair.
“It's now 75 days. There's not been any positive sighting of Luke. There was no good reason why Luke would have gone.”
Mrs Durbin said Luke did decide to go to France two years ago, but that time he left a note telling her where he was going.
Luke was seen around 3.40am on May 11 near a taxi office in Old Foundry Road. He was unable to get a taxi and advised to catch a bus from the Cattle Market. The last CCTV images of him show him in Dog's Head Street heading towards the bus station around 4am.
