A FISHERMAN who was swept out to sea by a huge wave has been named.
The man, who went missing while fishing near Kessingland on Wednesday, was Martyn Franklin, 41, of Lowestoft.
Police and coastguard launched a large-scale search for Mr Franklin after reports he was reported swept out to sea from the beach or jetty at Benacre Sluice at 7am on Wednesday.
A sea search, including an air sea rescue helicopter from RAF Wattisham was called off at around 3pm that afternoon, but a beach search continued into the early hours of the morning.
The sea surge which caught Mr Franklin was recorded as the highest for 13 years, and also saw beach huts at Felixstowe scattered along the front and flooding of several roads including parts of the A12.
