POLICE are investigating after a nine-year-old boy was picked up and dropped to the ground by two teenage boys in Woodbridge.
The youngster - who suffered a bump and bruising to his head - was attacked after making a comment about the youths smoking.
He and a friend had been walking along Old Barrack Road when they passed some older boys.
The two young boys made a comment about the smoking and two of the teenagers went for the nine-year-old and his friend. Both young boys ran, but the nine-year-old was grabbed and assaulted.
He managed to walk home but later went to hospital for checks.
There were a number of people in the area around the time of the incident - about 6.20pm on Wednesday, November 8 - and police are asking the teenagers, and any witnesses to the incident, to come forward. They should call Woodbridge police on 01473 613500.
