A GANG wearing balaclavas and brandishing sledgehammers have today ram-raided two businesses in Bury St Edmunds.
The gang of six used a green Vauxhall Frontera stolen from Newmarket to target Premier Stores in Glastonbury Road at around 2.05am.
They then used the same car to attack the neighbouring Bakers store, where they were confronted by three members of staff.
One man was struck on the arm by one of the offenders before they fled empty handed.
Nothing was taken from either of the shops.
The gang left in a red BMW 5 Series car and left the stolen Vauxhall in Glastonbury Road.
A red BMW was later founded abandoned in Burrells Orchard in Westley.
