TROUBLED teenager David Dixon has been fined £25 after he shouted abuse at a paperboy.

The drunken insult landed him in court and put him in breach of an anti-social behaviour order (Asbo) imposed on September 26 last year.

Dixon, 18, of Drake Avenue, Ipswich, appeared before the town's magistrates where he admitted causing alarm or distress in December last year.

Prosecutor Godfried Duah said: "On December 18 Dixon insulted a young boy who was doing a paper round.

"This was unprovoked and caused the boy alarm."

The court heard under the terms of his Asbo Dixon is banned from behaviour likely to be threatening, abusive or insulting to others.

Ian Duckworth, mitigating, said Dixon had just been released from a young offender's institute at the time the offence took place.

He had been drinking that day and could not remember the incident.

Bench chairwoman Sue Humphreys told him: "It seems a rather stupid offence."

Dixon's behaviour in the south east of Ipswich have gained him a degree of notoriety – and he was in court just days before his 18th birthday.

Once he had turned 18, The Evening Star was able to name him and present a special birthday greeting to the residents of the area.
