A RECORD producer has been jailed after he bit and hit three police officers in Ipswich.

The officers had been trying to arrest Sean Bailey of in Hawke Road, for being drunk and disorderly when he attacked them.

Bailey, 32, bit Pc Brown on the upper arm and Pc Oliver on the back, hand and thigh, leaving tooth marks and puncture wounds.

He then "lashed" out and struck WPc Joyce across the face causing bruising and grazes.

Bailey, of Alpine Road, Leyton, London, pleaded guilty to two counts of causing actual bodily harm and one count of common assault.

Ipswich Crown Court heard that Bailey had spent the evening celebrating his first record distribution contract with HMV and had drunk about half a bottle of vodka.

The police were then called to Hawke Road at 1am because of some damaged caused to Bailey's car that evening of January 9.

When the police arrived Bailey appeared to be arguing with a woman and became aggressive when police tried to handcuff him because of his drunken state.

Peter Fenn, prosecuting said: "He was eventually restrained but he continued to swear and struggle and was placed in the police van where he kicked out at the cage."

He added that Pc Brown and Pc Oliver had received hospital treatment and antibiotics because of the bite wounds.

Mr Fenn told the court Bailey had a record for violence including causing actual bodily harm and common assault.

He had also been convicted of possessing an offensive weapon, a drugs offence, theft and causing criminal damage.

Judge David Goodin sentenced Bailey to a total of 15 months in prison stating: "You are starting to acquire an unenviable record for violence this was disgraceful behaviour against police officers."
