SUFFOLK is primed to bid for a £50million revolution which could see four schools completely rebuilt.
Dated and dowdy high schools Chantry, Westbourne, Orwell and Deben could be razed to the ground if the groundbreaking plan comes off.
In their place would rise shining, modern buildings providing schooling and community resources fit for the 21st century.
But education chiefs warned parents to keep their feet on the ground - there are many hurdles to cross before the dream becomes reality.
And they said even if all potential pitfalls are overcome it would be the best part of three years before bulldozers move in.
County councillor Tony Lewis, portfolio holder for children and young people, said: "This is exciting stuff, but we don't want people to get too excited."
The huge cash investment would come from the private sector under the government's Private Finance Initiative.
