BUDDING Ipswich scientists are celebrating after their chemistry skills won them a distinction award in a national competition.
The eight sixth form students from Northgate High School were up against 1,000 fellow A-level students from across the country in the competition organised by the Nuffield Foundation.
Much of the work for the competition was done after school by the dedicated pupils.
The pupils who took part were Chris Bartlett, Robbie Correll, Xavier Orr, Gemma Parker, Rachel Levinson, Ciara McCarthy, and Adam Nunn.
Also taking part was Flora Vass.
She said: "It has helped a lot with the practical work we have to do in our AS level studies," she said. "We all really enjoyed taking part, it was lovely to find out that we had done so well."
Inspired by the success of this years entry, Northgate are planning to take part again next year, but on an even greater scale and involving some year 11 pupils as well.
