A SUFFOLK man has admitted having more than 40,000 pictures of child pornography – some featuring dead children.
Richard Sugden, 53, today pleaded guilty to 15 counts of making indecent photographs of children.
Sudgen, from Nottidge Road, Ipswich, appeared at Bury St Edmunds Crown Court today where he pleaded not guilty to a further count.
Prosecuter Robert Sadd said that so far Suffolk police had found more than 40,000 images of children held by Sugden.
He added that the police had faced a "mammoth task" in dealing with the case.
The charges to which Sugden pleaded guilty are sample charges for offences which occurred between February 2001 and October 2002.
Judge John Devaux adjourned the case for pre-sentence reports until September 29 when Sugden is due to be sentenced.
He was released on unconditional bail.
