A PAINTER and decorator who turned to heroin after "a bad day" was fined £150 for having the class A drug.
Former heroin user Allen Storey, 21, who has been on the heroin substitute methadone for two years, was found with £10 worth of the drug in Felixstowe.
Police were keeping watch on a house in the town where they suspected drugs were being pedalled, prosecutor Gareth Davies told the bench at South East Suffolk Magistrates Court.
"Mr Storey was seen to go in and later leave," said Mr Davies.
He was searched and found in possession of a quarter of a gram of heroin, which he admitted.
Nigel Innes, mitigating, said: "On that day he had a relapse. He had a bad day hence he was in possession of the drug."
In addition to the fine, Storey, of King Street, Felixstowe, was also ordered to pay £55 prosecution costs. The drugs were destroyed.
