AN 11.9 per cent rise in council tax has been approved.
The rise – on top of an 18.5% hike in the county council's share – was approved by the Labour-ruled Ipswich Borough Council last night.
Tory members of the council and three Liberal Democrats voted against the rise, but it was not enough to stop it going through.
It will mean residents who live in Band D properties will face a council tax bill of £1,255 in the next financial year.
The borough council has 37 Labour members, nine Conservatives and four Liberal Democrats.
