POLICE in Woodbridge are reminding door to door salespeople that they need a valid certificate in order to sell goods.Certificates will be issued where police officers are satisfied that the applicant has resided in an area for one month, that he or she is over 17 years of age, is of good character and intends to trade in good faith.

Detective Sergeant Mick Thompson of Woodbridge police station said: "We have had several incidents recently where door to door salespeople who are either unlicensed or whose licence is invalid have knocked at the door of homeowners, gained entry to their properties and stolen belongings.
"Homeowners should always check that anyone selling goods at their door has a valid licence.
"If they are approached by someone selling goods who does not have a valid licence, they should refuse them entry to their homes and contact police straight away."
