DETECTIVES are hunting a robber who hit a man over the head and stole his briefcase as he walked down a street in Ipswich.
The incident happened at about 4.10pm yesterday as the man walked along Benezet Street and turned right into London Road, heading out of town.
A car, believed to be a blue Ford escort, drove up beside him and a man got out and demanded the victim's briefcase, simultaneously hitting around the head.
The dark tan briefcase contained personal documents.
The car then drove off with the briefcase and headed out of town along London Road.
Following the attack, the victim who is 50 and from Ipswich suffered bruising to his face and a swollen finger.
The offender is described as white, about 5ft 9ins, and in his mid 20s and of stocky build. He was wearing a light coloured baseball cap, a blue short sleeve shirt and light coloured trousers.
It is believed there were a further three people in the vehicle, two white men and a black man.
